Course Description
Mac OS X Server 10.4 Essentials is a four-day, hands-on course that provides technical coordinators and entry-level system administrators with the skills, tools and knowledge to implement and maintain a Mac OS X Server-based system. Students will learn how to install and configure Mac OS X Server to provide network-based services, such as file sharing, email and printing. Tools for efficiently managing a group of Macintosh clients is also covered.
Who should attend?
This class is for Mac OS X technical coordinators and entry-level system administrators who are tasked with implementing and maintaining Mac OS X Server-based systems.
Prerequisites
Students should meet the following prerequisites for the Mac OS X 10.4 Server Essentials course:
• Understanding Mac OS X
• Experience with Mac OS X in a network environment
• Basic troubleshooting experience
Apple Certified Technical Coordinator Certification
By passing the Mac OS X Help Desk Essentials v10.4 exam (9L0-401) and the Mac OS X 10.4 Server Essentials exam (9L0-507) at your nearest Prometric testing centre you are granted the Apple Certified Technical Coordinator certitifcation.

Gateway Setup Assistant, confi guring and troubleshooting Firewalls, NAT, and VPN. |
| Authentication and Authorization |
Creating and administering accounts, controlling access (ACLs), and troubleshooting. |
| Open Directory |
Configuring Open Directory, single sign-on, backing up directory data, troubleshooting Open Directory. Introduction to Kerberos. |
| Print Services |
Configuring and managing the print service and troubleshooting print service issues. |
| File Services |
Configuring and troubleshooting Apple File Service, share points for Windows users, NFS, network mounts, and FTP; case sensitivity issues. |
| Account Management |
Managed accounts, preference management, managed network browsing, mobile accounts, troubleshooting account management. |
| Deployment Solutions |
Deployment issues, confi guring and troubleshooting NetBoot/Network Install, creating and delivering custom packages, deploying and updating with Apple Remote Desktop. |
